I found a bug in Festige. When using dssi-vst the paths works fine, but when using fst it doesn't if you have the vst's in sub-folders.

In festige the example path:

env WINE_RT=15 WINE_SRV_RT=10 WINEPREFIX=/home/studio/.wine /usr/share/festige/fst/fst.exe '/home/studio/.festige/Nebula3-96k-R' '/home/studio/.wine/drive_c/Studio/VSTPlugIns/Nebula/96k/Nebula3-96k-R.dll'

...doesn't work and I have to edit it manually to:

env WINE_RT=15 WINE_SRV_RT=10 WINEPREFIX=/home/studio/.wine /usr/share/festige/fst/fst.exe '/home/studio/.festige/Nebula3-96k-R' 'Nebula3-96k-R.dll'

...if I have the path in VST_PATH, or:

env VST_PATH='/home/studio/.wine/drive_c/Studio/VSTPlugIns/Nebula/96k/' WINE_RT=15 WINE_SRV_RT=10 WINEPREFIX=/home/studio/.wine /usr/share/festige/fst/fst.exe '/home/studio/.festige/Nebula3-96k-R' 'Nebula3-96k-R.dll'

...to be able to add it to ladish/claudia.

The problem is the path added before the *.dll file.

Will this Save&Load include "Open Bank (*.fxb)" and send this to the vst?

I just bought some expensive soft synths (500 USD. windows vst) and they don't respond to midi program change and/or bank change, so I'm not able to access the sounds and the first bank that loads is very small!!! This works in windows with for example Cantabile as host (Cantabile is not running in wine for me so I haven't been able to find an alternative solution), so the software developer will not help me I'm afraid.

falkTX wrote:Since I'm developing my own plugin host now, which supports VST and Wine, there will be no more need to keep working on FeSTige anymore.

Using your host Carla I haven't been able to add my vst instruments which works in festige (many of my vst instruments only works widt fst and not dssi-vst). I've added the paths correctly in Cadence. I've noticed the possibility to change program via the edit button, but not opening banks (*.fxb) whith many times the vst itself has no option for it and relies on the host to add the option.

I almost forgot to say... Thanks a million for such great applications!!! Your are making my dream come true to move my semi-pro studio from windows to the superior much more stable penguin!

hi, i have a issue (bug) with festige/fst : learnt midi controls don't recall back when i reopen the application, even when saving the state and reloading it.
Did i miss something, or is it a bug?
Thanks for any help.

For the foreseeable future, using reaper in wine, will be the best way to
use vsts, save the sessions, and have them accurately recalled. This won't save any linux
components, but some of that may be saved in a ladish or lashd session. If I have
something really good, I just title it with the abbreviated names of the components
until its finished.

thanks for the advice. I will try the reaper way, but last time i had a look, i couldnt get wine asio to work (on arch64).
Strange thing is that i cant recall midi controllers presets even in instruments that include midi learn function too
Good thing is that it works perfectly in ardour with lxvst and lv2, but i still need some winVST...

Cantabile1.2lite works quite well with wineasio, but I'm in 32 bit system. I do have to unload wineasio
when I shutdown that Cantabile version, then reload it when I start. Also, the main lite restriction is
you can only load four vsts at once, 2 each in 2 racks. It often will host the few
plugins that reaper won't scan, or manages to mangle. Scanning is optional in Cantabile 1.2lite.
Maybe ask at their forum if it's available somewhere.

The windows version of energyXT2.5 probably works well. It is bundled with Behringer hardware,
some of which is very inexpensive, like their usb guitar interface.

Reaper works ok now for me, but shows a little instability , so i 'd like to search further with this festige issue. Is there any file/folder where the program saves midi control bindings? i could maybe edit them by hand

I use Reaper 3.75 or 3.76, the V4 issues were doing weird things, and I'm
to short on time to investigate, when the others work well enough.

Tested some vsts, these loaded, and had preset access
through festige or the synth gui, and had working controls. Did not attempt any 'midi learn'
or automation. (new ones added to the top with ----------divider

Scroll down a few posts for the slightly updated list :)
