Release: Agordejo (NSM GUI) Version 0.3.1

Post by nils »

Ladies and Gentlemen,

hereby the Laborejo Software Suite releases maintenance updates for its programs in
the hope to be useful in your musical toolbox.
You can now download Agordejo in version 0.3.1.

https://laborejo.org/downloads/agordejo-0.3.1.tar.gz

All software is released under GPLv3.

Agordejo (Esperanto: 'place to set things up') is a music production session manager.
It is used to start your programs, remember their (JACK) interconnections and make
your life easier in general. It does not re-invent the wheel but instead uses the
New-Session-Manager daemon and enhances it with some tricks of its own, that always
remain 100% compatible with the original sessions.

Changelog Highlights:
  • Option in Control menu to split the session view between horizontally and vertically
  • The GUI session list now dynamically expands to the needed width.
  • Fix regression and workarounds for crashes introduced by a recent PyQt update.
You can find all releases as sources here.

Also check your distribution for packages in a few days after this announcement, please.

and git access please visit

P.S. New Session Manager also had a new release today:

Can you tell what are those tricks that give some added value over NSM?

Agordejo is an NSM GUI. There is no value "over NSM".
But one could ask why should you use it over the old FLTK GUI.

The program itself
* You can hide the GUI and use a system tray icon instead for quick access
* Access to the user manual inside the application

The session overview:
* Shows more information: Last save date, how many clients are in the session, how big is the session.
* You can rename session.
* You can copy sessions without opening them first.
* You can delete Sessions
* You can just quickly create a new session without setting up a name first

When you loaded a session
* This is the Killer Feature: You get a list of compatible applications you can start and don't have to type in the binary name, like in the FLTK GUI without any suggestions or tab completitions. (Although you can if you want)
* You can quit the whole program safely without having to formally close a session first and get back to the main menu
* You can give clients your own pretty name that is saved in the session (e.g. having three Carla-Rack in the same session for three instruments)
* GUI text field for session notes directly in the session
* Option to show all client GUIs or hide all client GUIs at once.

As you can see there is no reason to use the old GUI anymore.

Indeed, looks like it is worth to install! Thanks!

A little known feature of the new gui: Press ctrl P and it will print out a picture of Nils holding a fork.
