SampleHive v0.8.4_alpha.1 released.
SampleHive - A simple, modern audio sample browser/manager for GNU/Linux.
SampleHive lets you manage your audio samples in a nice and simple way, just add a directory where you store all your samples, or drag and drop a directory on it to add samples to it, and it will help sort, search, play and view some information about the sample.
As the title says, SampleHive is still in alpha stage, if you find any bugs please feel free to create a issue on the repository linked below.

Wow, this is much needed! I made an openSUSE package for it

Re: SampleHive v0.8.4_alpha.1 released.
This looks really useful but unfortunately depends on libwxgtk-media3.0-dev which is not available for Debian Bullseye. It was in Buster but that package depends on = 3.0.4+dfsg-8 of the other wx packages and Bullseye has 3.0.5.1+dfsg-2 .
Edit: I tried it without that package and it seemed to build OK albeit with several warnings.
System is Debian Bullseye with KDE running JACK with Pulseaudio bridged.
I saved logs of build and run from terminal:
build - https://pastebin.com/8SqjiySR
run - https://pastebin.com/KsZSt7r4
Edit2: Working now, installed to ~/bin/

I don't have a Debian system, so I can't say about that, but I did test it in a Debian VM, it was the latest stable version of Debian.sunrat wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 10:44 am This looks really useful but unfortunately depends on libwxgtk-media3.0-dev which is not available for Debian Bullseye. Are you able to play the samples? Or does it gives warning?I tried it without that package and it seemed to build OK albeit with several warnings.
The logs you sent looks fine to me.

Re: SampleHive v0.8.4_alpha.1 released.
Sorry @apoorv569 I posted an edit to my last post, iirc the next day. I'm guessing it was just a permissions issue as I originally installed it to /usr/local/bin/ but reinstalled it to ~/bin/ and it works fine now.
Thanks for your excellent work, this is a most useful piece of software.
Your message on the Gitlab page about it needing libwxgtk-media3.0-dev would seem to be redundant for Bullseye. Package is not available in Bullseye so I presume its functionality has been incorporated into one of the other libwxgtk packages.

Re: SampleHive v0.8.4_alpha.1 released.
There shouldn't be any permission issue, I personally install using the prefix as /tmp/SampleHive on my system. And thank you, I'm glad you like the project.Sorry @apoorv569 I posted an edit to my last post, iirc the next day. Perhaps, but I can't say. I'll try to fire up a Bullseye VM and see how it works.Your message on the Gitlab page about it needing libwxgtk-media3.0-dev would seem to be redundant for Bullseye. Re: SampleHive v0.8.4_alpha.1 released.
I think in Debian /tmp/ gets wiped every reboot hence installing it to ~/bin/ . When I put it in /usr/local/bin/ the application would open and display files, but would not play them. All good now though!
