B.Schaffl 1.4.0 - MIDI dynamics & vitalization

Post by sjaehn »

Hi,

The MIDI dynamics and vitalization LV2 plugin just got new features. Now you can share your settings between different instances of the plugin and thus synchronize the instances.

Key features:
* MIDI velocity amplification and timing manipulation plugin
* Swing and shuffle rhythms
* Pre-generator dynamics
* *Tempo rubato*
* Pattern (sliders) or shape-controlled
* MIDI filters
* Smart quantization
* Group / link individual instances of B.Schaffl
* Free and open source

What's new:
* Shared data: Link controllers between different instances
* New plugin sub-title
* Plugin description
* Bugfixes

Acknowledgements:
* Bart Brouns for the original idea plus subsequent ideas about principle and features
* Robin Gareus for ideas to technically solve *rubato*-related problems
* Jatin Chowdhury for ideas to technically solve shared data storage

Links

Have fun!

Interesting stuff. Many midi apps lacks (good) swing functionality, if this thing is working good, it might help in certain situations. Will surely check this out.

I stumbled upon the swing functionality in Radium, it makes it possible for the user to finetune swing pretty detailed it seems. Maybe interesting for inspiration. http://users.notam02.no/~kjetism/radium ... ramed.html

I don't know the Radium features in detail, but I'll take a closer look on it. Likely you can get the same results with Radium but on a slightly different way.

B.Schaffl is not limited to create "simple" swing patterns (as shown in the announcement picture). You can also create more complex acceleration and deceleration patterns and end up in rubato sections. Like the exaggerated Chopin in the Youtube video mentioned above (edit: sorry, it's the other video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oPtBPAgvmY ). Also an extreme example (look at the position of the STR (stretch) makers):

Yes, and this makes much sense. Use B.Schaffl after B.SEQuenzr.

B.Schaffl is just updated to version 1.4.2 : https://github.com/sjaehn/BSchaffl/releases/tag/1.4.2 . Compatibility problems to older versions are fixed.
