I'm aware JUCE is a bit of a contentious subject here, and probably this sale won't make it any less of one.

Doesn't sound great but we just have to see what happens. At least JUCE is GNU GPL licensed so most of us free software developers won't be too affected (for a while anyway).

I am wondering if the malware part ("Licensing", "iLok") is Open Source and GPL, too.

What would they gain by that?
less developers using Juce? Less plugins that "need" licensing?
