Currently we've a port to GTK(mm)3 for the main interface and a port to X11(cairo) for the LV2 plugs in the pipe.

Means, we port the Guitarix main interface to use GTK(mm)3 instead GTK(mm)2, and port the LV2 plugs, which comes with guitarix to use a X11 + cairo based Interface instead the current used Gtk(mm)2.
We don't plan to provide the full guitarix app as LV2 plugin, currently not.
To use the full guitarix stack as LV2 plugin, you relay on the Carla bridges.

This is a 'hack' to get Guitarix running as LV2 plugin right?

Nope, that's a feature to make the Carla bridge to LV2 experience more smooth with guitarix. It's part of the integration in the overall ecosystem of linux audio.

I can't think of any feature that gives you so much, in relation to the amount of effort you've to put in it.

I understand your effort to push NSM on Linux, and I respect that, just, keep in mind, please, that other people may have other priorities.
NSM have a couple of issues, and this thread here is the wrong place to talk about that.
As I've said some Years ago, when NSM, makes it into debian, I'll work on implementation for guitarix, otherwise, we may accept patches, but, our priority is still on other stuff.

I understand why developers focus on their own application

If, developers of open source audio application will only focus on there own applications, we surly wont be were we are now. So, be a bit careful with your assumptions.

Phenomenal job with guitarix, the simulations are getting better and better every time a new release is out. The plugins built with the DK tool in particular are even better now.

I will contribute to the project by sharing clips and video demonstrating guitarix presets.
