Edit: I've just installed xfce and it works there too.
Do I right understand that the problem is currently with openbox only?

From everything I've tested, yes. The thing is using plasma or gnome especially with mixbus, I get crazy xruns.

I installed openbox and, while my openbox does behave a bit weird (sort of like this), the plugins seem to work fine, and their UI displays properly.

Is it a particular plugin that works bad or all of them?

So, I went on to do more tests. My openbox environment is very minimal. It turned out that my glitches were due to to fact that openbox was lacking a compositor it could use. All went fine when I installed compton.

The plugins work correctly as standalones, in carla (both VST and LV2) and Ardour (both VST and LV2).

Do you use any compositor with openbox? If so, which one?

compton also and it was off. started up and still no go. The last and all the older versions worked as I use OpenBox mostly for years.

This is very-very strange. But I'm not suprised since you have previously reported many-many troubles on your system. There were not so much changes in the UI since 1.1.3 version, I can not even imagine why plugins do have such behaviour under your system.

Since I have had the last problem with these plugins, I've changed my system. This is a new system I'm running on and since then I've had no problems using LSP until now. And it's only under that desktop environment now.

I wonder why I cannot reproduce this. What kernel version are you using? Which video card do you have? (<- stabs in the dark).

For what is worth: I installed Openbox in my Debian Sid laptop, and could run LSP plugins with it too (in Ardour), without problems...

Dunno why OpenBox but this might help, Ardour has never worked under Mate DE. Even on my old system. Remember, this is a new system I'm running or I should say a fresh install of Arch. Mixbus runs under those DEs and so does LSP on Mate.
LSP is fine under everything but openbox. Ardour and Mate and gtk issues I think. LSP is not gtk is it?

Since 1.1.0 we went away from using GTK. That was an induced step, so I was required to implement my own graphical toolkit:

Xfce is what I'm using now because it just seems the work with everything and it's not bloated. Yeah I've always been one of the first to test your plugins and it's been awhile since I've had issues with them. Especially on a fresh install

I'm thinking so too but wouldn't that be a problem on all DE's?
