Post by rncbc »

That's it!
  • QjackCtl 0.5.4 (early-autumn'18) is out!
Image

QjackCtl is a(n ageing but still modern, maybe not so simple anymore) Qt application to control the JACK sound server, for the Linux Audio infrastructure.

Website:
https://qjackctl.sourceforge.io
http://qjackctl.sourceforge.net

Project page:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/qjackctl

Downloads:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/qjackctl/files

- source tarball: - source package: - binary packages: - AppImage packages: Git repos: Change-log:
- Graph port-type colors are now configurable (cf. menu View > Colors...).
- Make Graph nodes (ie. client boxes) transparent for yet some eye-candiness ;). Also keep the (Graph) current selection across port (dis)connections.
- Drawing patchbay connector lines as (bezier) curves is now a difinitive and fixed feature (as long as no moreremains from the so called "Cambric explosion era" are still lurking in there).
- AppStream metadata updated to be the most compliant with latest freedesktop.org specification and recommendation.
- Graph auto-layout improvement for brand new node clients.
- Avoid showing setup warning when no server settings have changed.
- Fixed JACK D-Bus settings for MIDI driver parameter.

License:
QjackCtl is free, open-source Linux Audio software, distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2 or later.

Enjoy && have fun! (what else?)

Tried running from terminal and it fails also but this all worked before the Qjackctl update:

jackd is complaining about duplicate "a2j" client names...

maybe you're running a MIDI driver (-X "seq" or "alsamidi") from the running jackd-server already ?
...
nothing of that relates to newer or older qjackctl per se... *or*... you're using qjackctl's JACK D-bus interface and as a matter of fact it is now having the MIDI driver set alright (check the change-log line: - Fixed JACK D-Bus settings for MIDI driver parameter. ;))...

you're then advised to reset MIDI driver to "none" (in qjackctl > Setup > Settings) as the "seq" bridge driver, now being activated alright is somewhat a "mediocre" one when compared to a2jmidid, that you're running anyway (and right you are;)).

hth.
cheers

Well I didn't change anything yet this happened so since you said it's not an issue with the app or the upgrading of the app I decided to just reboot the computer and all is well again. :D Thanks a lot. It's just really strange because I've been using the setting for years and change nothing.
