You can map a specific chord to a single button now. So for example, let's say you have a box with 5 buttons that spit out a Program Change message. (Listen up, tavasti).
Tested this. My pedal board is dummy (old Art X11) , not having any options for mapping buttons. There is bank selector, and I can select to send 0-4, 5-9,10-14, etc.
I set up qmidiroute to map 0 -> 21, 1->14 and 2->16. And now I had first bank set up to allow play Am-Dm-Em. (just first example to test)

So I can create 25 sets, each containing 5 chords. And all these can be used with transpose. For my novice jamming that is more than enough!

Used 48khz version, worked fine! Thanks!

With Setup -> Midi I had bit problems. With my normal double click I can't get those items open. With triple click yes, and in fact, even with double click is I slow down :-) Is there some filtering for mouse events, so that 'too fast' coming event is ignored as duplicate?

StyleEdit seems to be at least partly broken, I could not do midi file for any pattern or song, i get error message "xxx didn't open" and that xxx is somehow messed, getting some characters in front of selected items name.

BTW, do you want bug reports here or as SF tickets?

Did you edit the file Styles/Window/26.layout? All the lines got joined together in one long line... like it got reformatted with word wrapping.

Use the one i'm attaching here. (But save the one that crashes in case I need to see it).

If you still get a crash, delete 26.layout entirely and see if the program will run with a working Setup screen at least.

Didn't edit any layout files. My original was same, and even removal did not change anything.

Excellent. No glitches? Is the output loud enough? I'm really conservative with levels.

Yep. I use an 8" touchscreen to operate it, and those tend to "jitter click". I'll make that configurable. For now, just click once and then press Enter.

Will check into StyleEdit.

@j_e_f_f_g Any ideas on the error I'm getting? Could it also be related to this StyleEdit problem?

Didn't notice any, but that does not prove anything, because I was too busy trying to make my toes and fingers to co-operate. Anyway I was more out of track than band.

More than enough loud, had to turn volume down much. Which brings in mild request for having master volume on 'main page' also, or is it just matter of configuring?

Did you try the attachment I posted of 26.layout? (test.zip)

Your copy appears to have gotten mangled.

The accompaniment volume control is in the main screen's Mixer, and also in Setup -> Accompaniment.

In the upper right corner of the main screen is the mixer. Here you can individually mute the drummer, bassist, and guitarist by unchecking the boxes labeled Drums, Bass, and Guitar. The Accomp box mutes/unmutes the bass and guitar simultaneously, but not the drummer. To the right of the Accomp box are up and down arrows to raise or lower the volume of the drums, bass, and guitar simultaneously.

There are also up/down arrows to adjust the volume of the patches you play.

Finally, there are arrows to adjust the reverb volume, and a box to turn it on/off.

The adjustments you make with the mixer are only temporary while BackupBand is running. The next time you run BackupBand, the mixer will return its default settings. If you want to make an adjustment permanent, you must change the setting in the Setup screen. All changes you make in Setup are permanently stored. For example, to permanently turn reverb off, go to Setup -> General and uncheck the Reverb Enable box.

Ok, I misunderstood meaning of knobs. This way it is great.

I'm working on more documentation right now. There are lots of features the docs don't even mention yet.

For popularity of this great program, docs should be readable in net directly. People could read how great features BackupBand has, and get courage to try it.

And indeed, there is much features and possibilities which are not covered in detail.

When the docs are upto an acceptable standard, then i'll put them on the wiki tab for the sourceforge page. I pride myself on my ability to write docs that are both detailed, and comprehensible, to the layman. (And my source code is likewise. There are actually as many comment lines documenting the code, as there are lines of code. I can't name even one other oss dev who does that.)

Right now, the docs are too incomplete (but already better than far too many apps). They'll get there. The snippet i just posted about the mixer comes from the revision i'm working on now.

Telling a developer that people need great courage to try his software, is a back-handed compliment if ever there was one. Good zinger though.

But I jest. I'm the kind of guy who, if you tell me some music/software/writing/drawing i wrote is crap, I'd think that was funny. Most people see my stuff as being so "weird" that, at this point, I'm not only nonplussed by that reaction -- I'm in fact entertained by it.. Watching someone react to my stuff is like watching him do the "cinnamin challenge".

But i do think people should try BackupBand. Not because it's great or useful or even approved by the FDA. (It isn't. The lab rats died.) But because it's unusual. It does something (algo accompaniment) that most linux apps don't do, especially in that "instant gratification and hand-holding" manner typical of Windows, but not Linux, apps. Yes, i do think folks should try my cinnamin challenge. Mostly for my amusement. Linux needs more courageous men (and a few more women who shave their armpits).

Maybe courage is bad word for it, but in general, if I meet software which doesn't have too much documentation, in most cases I won't bother installing and testing it.

In reviewing the docs for the Mixer, I realized I omitted some details. Here are the additional details:
To the right of the Accomp box are up and down arrows to raise or lower the volume of the drums, bass, and guitar simultaneously. If you click and hold the left mouse button, the arrows will repeatedly raise/lower the volume, until you release the mouse button. If you instead click twice very fast (double-click), then a numeric pad is presented for you to enter the desired volume. It must be a value from 0 to 100 (max volume).
Of course, the double-click will be difficult until you get the fix in the new revision I'm working on.
