and now LMMS still works and Ardour does now also.
Does LMMS recognize the Calf LADPSA plugins? I would assume it does not. Calf removed LADSPA support quite a while ago and LMMS still uses it.

Code: Select all

Problem is that LMMS installs legacy (LADSPA) versions of Calf which make Ardour crash while adding a Calf plugin.
It installs to the `PLUGIN_DIR/ladspa`, which can be overridden at build time. `/ladspa` seems like a valid prefix for an installation location for LADSPA v1 libraries, no? Is there a chance the package manager is installing this library in the wrong place?

Hey tresf,

thanks a lot for taking care of this problem!

Probably we better should go on in the issues section of GitHub to keep things in place.

Great work Markus!

I have a stupid question. How can I use the new designs (in Ardour).

Thanx
Marcel

Hey Marcel,

Thanks! Themes can be switched in calfjackhost (the standalone application) under File -> Preferences -> Style.

Hi Markus,

It is really a big improvement. I love the new Multi spread, much better control as Haas. Also the new look (specially the midnight) is awesome. Now playing with the vinyl plugin :)

Hey Marcel,

good to hear people making use of it. Regarding Haas/Multi Spread please keep in mind that both are completely different concepts and it depends what you want to achieve. Haas is creating stereo in the time domain, Multi Spread in the frequency domain. If you just want to blow a mono signal up to a "wall of sound" I'd recommend subtle Haas enhancing, Multi Spread (leaving alone the lowest band), Multiband Enhancer and Stereo Tools in this order.

BTW if you're using a Debian derivate you should consider using FalkTX' KXStudio repositories to get the hottest shtuff from Linux audio.

Fortunately FalkTX already fixed it.

With 0.0.60 I never got the full GUI when using Calf in Carla (e.g. spectral view/analyzer in calf EQ), which seemed to be a known limitation (of Carla...?).
Now I just tried Carla+Calf in Linux Reaper, and, *bang* there it was working beautifully!
Do we owe this to an updated Carla or to Calf 0.90.0 ?

There was a minor change in Calf initiated by FalkTX which now correctly propagates the LV2 InstanceAccess parameter but I guess it's Carla now offering instance access. FalkTX, please correct me if I'm wrong.

What a nice concurrence of improvements!
Calf plugins (and Carla, too) are a joy to use.
Big Thanks :D
