maybe the theory behind this:
http://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/kem ... -amplifier
can work.. I think the use convolution to get a snapshot of an amp, pedal, etc.

That was actually the topic of my master thesis: blind identification of audio amplifiers. Impulse response and convolution are actually fully descriptive of linear systems only. To identify tube amps and distortion pedals one needs a kernel of impulse responses. But they can be indeed calculated starting from a well defined test signal. I will publish my dissertation soon on my blog. This was also mentioned here.

Yeah I think that's what the other platform devs are doing with plugins like LePou.

If you will, let's continue there with the Kemper and stop polluting Tramp's announcement:

Hi folks,
I have to agree w/Gmaq on the overdrive sounds. It's difficult getting a good NATURAL overdrive tone in software, even for the proprietary companies, which is one reason I like to use analog hardware amp sim pedals or just mic up my amp. But of course the more options we have in software the better.

I should mention though (..and no disrespect to tramp and Guitarix) that I think the C* AmpVTS plugin is a little underrated. I manage to get a decent dynamic crunch tone with it dialed-in just right, oversampling x8, into Robin Gareus' zero latency Convolver with a GOOD impulse response..

But I would also like to see a Klon sim, that would be cool.

..And if anybody could do an accurate sim of the Sansamp PSA-1, like the Bomb Factory one, I'll be the first to donate! Oh, and open source please (..I don't want much  ) If there is only one thing I miss from my old Pro Tools rig, it's that.

@Gmaq Just FYI, if you ever need impulses of a Fender Blues Jr, I uploaded a free set I did some time ago over at guitarampmodeling.com

Peace

Hi! cool stuff! Thanks for the link

I have a tweed Pro Junior myself (a bit of a rare bird like the blonde Blues Jr. you had).

Anyway, back to our scheduled programming... How 'bout them GXPlugins eh?

@GMaq You're welcome, hope you find them useful. I think I might have done my Deluxe Reverb as well, but it's been so long I forgot...will have to check.

Yeah, the Gx stomps are very cool, amazing how many there are already! I'm trying to test them more slowly cuz when I audition them one right after the other for awhile all I hear is " buzz buzz" I compared the Tube Screamer to a reference clip I had of my real one, and you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference! Especially in a mix. Maybe there will eventually be a MemoryMan in this pack..? (hint hint ) In the meantime I'm using the MDA DubDelay which is really good.

@funkmuscle Cool, thx for the tip - OMG, Bootsy baby! I haven't heard that name in a LONG time! All I need are some wacky shades and a costume  Will have to try that out.

Hi

Unfortunately it seems you need to be looked in there to access the files.
I'm interested in them as well :)
Do you mind to upload the files here or elsewhere with free access, as I aint wone register in a other forum?

Yeah, absolutely! Thanks for catching that, I haven't been over there in a long time and forgot about that. It looks like I can attach files directly here so I'll try that first. I don't remember it being large, but I don't know what the file size limit is. Anyway, I'll try to upload soon :)

OK, I put them on yourfilelink.com because they're apparently too big to host here directly (..8MB total maybe).

I moved the topic over to the "samples" section since others might be interested in it, and to not keep going off-topic on the original thread:

posting.php?mode=post&f=50#preview

Enjoy!
