Re: Open Octave
I would love to have further talks with you regarding ooverb's GUI. You can join use at #openoctave on freenode. I am around idling.brummer wrote:Hiccherrett wrote:Alex played in the orchesrta and is quite tuned to what happens around the pit. We want to simulate all the characteristics that he has been trying to simulate manually. Mic bleed, delay, positioning, and then finally the blended mix with jconv powering the reverb.
Anyone interested in helping with it is welcome.
Is it posible to see a screenshoot from your jconv Gui ? I have switch to KDE4 already, so I cant build open octave on my box.
I have also create a Gui (GTK) for jconv settings used in guitarix, and I interessted witch way you have gone, may we could benefit from etch other ?

Re: Open Octave
As composer, I'm really excited about the direction this project is taking. This something that is very much needed on Linux platform, and I'm really looking forward to the KDE4 version of Open Octave. Will definitely be keeping my eye on this project!!

Re: Open Octave
@Studio32
Would you mind sharing a little more info on your build process. I would very much like to add Open Octave to AV Linux and replace Rosegarden (too many duplicate functions with Ardour) and have had several user inquiries about adding/installing it. AV Linux is based on Debian Testing so no KDE3 dev libs.
***EDIT***
kdelibs4-dev will uninstall lxde and Remastersys Control Panel... both are pillars of AV Linux, Will have wait for the QT4 Port...Bummer!
So...one more vote for the QT4 port (when the codebase is ready)

Re: Open Octave
I couldn't agree more. And there are other things (like the default key shortcuts used in Rosegarden) that sometimes don't make sense. For example, when I use Rosegarden in live performances, I find kind of awkward having to press CRTL+Enter to start to play a sequence (in a desktop using the keypad Enter is not a problem, but in a laptop, as it is my case, it really is), specially when the "universal" key shortcut for play is usually the Spacebar. I know I can change the default key mappings of shortcuts, but it would take me a lot of time to change them all. Anyway, it's great to know that this has been fixed in Open Octave.; the shortcuts seem to be very "standard" and intuitive.GMaq wrote:...Rosegarden (too many duplicate functions with Ardour) ...
Another thing I miss from Rosegarden is a shortcut key to activate the loop function on the fly. It would be handy in live performances to repeat a specific, predetermined section of the sequence (for example, activate loop to repeat a final chorus a couple of times, and deactivate it to let the sequence get to the ending section)
Well, I don't want to turn this post into a feature request. Just want to say that this project looks very promising and interesting, and would like to encourage the developers to continue with this great initiative. From the point of view of a heavy Rosegarden user like me, who's work mainly focuses in MIDI sequencing, this looks like a program I would use very often.
