I think Mixbus and it's plugins are more a mastering suite, than just a mixer, and from what I've read,
can yield a distinctly pro sound, at an extremely low price. If I recall correctly, Paul Davis prime goal
was to achieve the highest quality of audio recording in the industry, so the partnership with Harrison
seems pretty natural. Hopefully great success for them will occur, regardless of platforms.

There are reports that the audio production side of windows ten has some good improvements,
but the privacy/security issues surrounding it, could bring more musicians to linux.
If 2015 is a decent barometer, 2016 is going to be a great year.
Cheers

What desktop? I tried on openbox. That's where it failed.

Thanks for the shot. I'm using the version you specified, including the latest libSwell, and my screenshot is what I'm getting here. I cleared all previous config stuff, got no joy. What am I missing ?

Great news that the new REAPER Linux test release has basic (no GUI) LVST support! That mean's full VST support and hence a fully usable, Linux-native REAPER is likely only weeks away now!

Could REAPER become the most popular Linux DAW? If so, how long will it take?

Combined with U-he, how many Linux converts could this potentially create I wonder? REAPER has many more users than Ardour and all the other Linux DAWs combined, judging by its forums.

I've been having a lot of fun with this over the last week, and especially since the vst support has been added. It has been surprising to me how many of the vsts I use can get by without the normal gui. The only things I'm really missing are Carla and drumgizmo. Even MasterMix, which is a pretty complex plugin, lets me use all its presets and makes all of the controls available as sliders. My migration from REAPER to Tracktion half a year ago might turn out to be short lived. I wonder if this pace of development will continue now with all of the publicity they have gotten via Phoronix, LAS, etc.

Greetings,

Tried it with the included libSwell, got the same crappy fonts as before. Built libSwell myself, used it successfully, but still got no joy with the fonts. Desktop here is Xfce on Fedora 21 x86_64. Something is very wrong here but I have no idea where to look (an ungentle reminder that Reaper is a closed-source project as much as Bitwig or Tracktion).

Any suggestions, anyone ? Kott's screenshot is enticing, I'd like to see the same fonts here.

Best,

It's all beyond me, but maybe there could be a clue regarding where REAPER is looking for fonts in this recent commit:
