not the Instruments section, or the VSTi3 section.
I also had issues to get Zebra2/Zebralette etc. getting loaded until I realized I had a wrong setting.
This helped me:
For people missing GUI's of some of the U-he plugins.
This solved it for me:
1. Make sure "Get Vst names/types when scanning" is ticked in Reaper Prefs/VST
2. Click "Clear cache/re-scan"
BTW: This also helps if you're completely missing some of the plugins like Zebralette, the Uhbik effetcs and others, which won't get loaded if "Get Vst names/types when scanning" is unchecked.
The only issue remaining with these: In the FX-browser you can't search them in the filter by typing "u-he". You need to filter them by their name.
I don't want to bother people by posting links in this thread continually but just so people are aware I packaged 5.352 in a Deb with the 'Jessie' version of Reaper for quick testing on 'older' Debian/Ubuntu systems. This deb should have better backward compatibility to Debian Jessie/Ubuntu 14.04, since it seems to also work well on Debian Stretch I will try and keep convenience packaging the Jessie developer version only from now on as time permits..

I could not replicate your success with either Kontakt 5.5.2 or 5.6.6 on Ubuntu Xenial + KXStudio.
Are you able to run Kontakt standalone?
Which wine version are you using (KXStudio provides 1.8 )?
Which Windows version are you emulating for Kontakt (I tried 7, 8, 8.1 and 10)?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the off-topic, maybe this discussion should be moved to a thread of its own.

I can run the standalone and the vst.
I think the Kontakt demo is version 5.6, it's the current version available from their website.
winehq-devel 2.1
Earlier versions of wine might not work.
I did try Kontakt with wine 1.6 on Ubuntu Studio 14.04 and it would not work.
I did try Kontakt with wine 1.6 on Ubuntu Studio 14.04 and it would not work.
This is the most likely reason, then, I'll have to try a more recent version. Thanks for the heads up! Knowing that there are conditions under which Kontakt can be run is already interesting news.
Some initial stats and thoughts regarding reaper's linux version,
and the windows version, in wine.
(The 4 outputs below are of the 'free' command)
1. first boot, no apps running
2. qjackctl running, priority 78
3. windows reaper in wine 1.8, with ACE loaded
4. windows reaper, with ACE, and Hive loaded, and a rakarrack instance.
According to htop, wine and reaper priority
are at 20, and qjackctl is at 78.
The ACE/Hive sounds, are a modulated sequence, and a sweeping pad.
htop shows the cpu rate at idle is around 21%, and when notes are played as intended,
the full combo uses 45%-85% cpu, on a 4 core 8 thread i7 @ 2900-3400 ghz
The same setup using linux Reaper version 5.35 installed using Gmacs debian package,
idles at 10%, with the same playing in the 25%-65% range. So there is some
significant resource savings. The linux reaper version is still more fidly
to use, a little less beautiful, and won't use windows vsts without an extra plugin's use,
but it's on the radar and incoming.
In the 'well' why not?' column, I added a wine reaper along with the linux reaper setup,
and loaded two of my very fave windows vst sounds, and recorded the team using timemachine,
talk about clams at high tide vacationing in hawwwggg heaven!!!!
Good times ahead!
htop showed the two different reapers with rakarrack and timemachine,
idling about 18%

Have you tried the 5.351 or 3.52 debs that Gmac made? I'm curious to see what type of performance increase the realtime thread scheduling that was added in at 5.351 makes. Perhaps just the ability to acheive lower latency without xruns.
I noticed today that in notation view, the notes don't display properly in 5.352 with my current install of Kubuntu 16.04.2 with KXStudio repos. Kind of like a needed font is missing. 5.351 works fine. So, since 5.351 works fine on 16.04, I'll be using that for now. Has anybody else noticed this on their systems?
edit: this seems to be due to reavura.otf (the notation font) not being included in /REAPER/plugins/ as it has been in other builds...

So does copying the font over from an older bundle fix it?
*EDIT - Seems to fix it, will try and upload a fixed deb later today/tonight

Justin has confirmed that copying it over from 5.351 will fix it. He is also fixing the release, which I guess will appear on the landoleet server before too long.
Looks like there are now REPAER 5.353 and updated libbSwell binaries up on the landoleet server. The missing Reavura.otf notation font has been fixed, and elastique has been removed for the time being (it was causing crashes, looks like Linux users are limited to soundtouch until a new Linux elastique build is obtained), as well as some other updates. Looks like there's also been a number of patches to libSwell recently as well. Good to see this recent surge in Linux REAPER development continuing at a good pace.
edit: And thanks, GMAq! I see you've already packaged 5.353. I much prefer installing with your packages.
Also, regarding the removal of elastique: I copied it back from an older release. It's true that it will crash projects if you use Elastique Pro settings in ReaTune. Efficient and Solo settings seem to work fine for me though. And Soundtouch causes crackling and popping on a test vocal I was trying some pitch correction on. Hopefully a fully working elastique.so makes its way back into REAPER for Linux before too long. Of course, Gsnap is another possibility as a linux vst for those of us who can't sing in key. I'm not sure what kind of algorithm that uses - but it does seem to work without artifacts for me.
