ALSA updates

Of particular interest is this:
New hardware support: Focusrite Scarlett, Digidesign Mbox1,
I know lots of folks are using the Scarlett line. If you've had issues, you'll want to try the upcoming 3.19 kernel. Don't know what support has been added, but maybe it's to implement some of the things you can do with MixControl under Windows. (That could be especially useful to folks with the bigger models).

That's good news! I was thinking of buying a Scarlett 6i6 and stumbled upon this thread earlier today:

The comments section is pretty long but the jist is that a couple of people had been working independently on an ALSA mixer interface for the Scarlett range when the ALSA devs picked up on their work and wanted to merge it into a mainline kernel, and from jeffg's link it looks like that's happened!

A closer look at the commit log shows this:
Scarlett mixer interface for 6i6, 18i6, 18i8 and 18i20
Folks with those models will want 3.19 kernel. When you open any mixer panel, it will now show volume sliders for all inputs and outputs (which hopefully will enable direct monitoring).
