Have you filed a support ticket? Would be nice to get this in upstream :)

Greetings,

Converted deb to rpm, installation via 'rpm -i' failed with complaint about dependency versions for libavcodec and libavformat. Also needed libxcb-icccm, installable with the xcb-utils-wm package. Decided to install manually, converted deb to tgz and copied everything to specified locations in /opt and /usr.

Bitwig fired up with no problem, configuration was simple enough, the GUI is snappy even on my laptop (dual-core AMD Turion with nVidia graphics). Haven't really tested anything yet, haven't even got sound in or out of it yet, I'm still learning the UI.

And it crashed when it didn't find a specific resource (an icon apparently), but it generated a Java error report I can send to the devs.

Looks nice, has lots of built-ins (instruments, fx, etc). Is there a demo song file anywhere ?

Fedora 19 with Planet CCRMA extras.

Best,

Hi Dave,
how did you get to work Jack?
Everytime I try to run bitwig (demo) via jack I get an error message like the one posted here:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5690520

It runs with the alsa-->jack plugin started via cadence, but I have lot of dropouts with alsa.
Seems one has to wait until the community area will be launched.

Greetings

@Johannes - I'm a little confused by current Jack morphology, but 'jackd --version' tells me it's jackdmp 1.9.9.5. I did load and play a soundfile, also loaded and played a midifile via the FM4 instrument. Got smooth sound, no xruns, but the load was light, with no fx or other plugins. Now that I have an idea how to use the program I'll get into it some more.

What distro are you using ?

Best,

@Johannes: I didn't get sound working without resorting to the jack pulsaudio sink. The think is that I don't get any sound out of it through the sink, but only if I then manually connect the bitwig outputs to my outputs...

Oh, and I don't seem to be able to use any of my midi devices even if I can assign them from a list. :-(

If I use alsa I can use midi devices and get sound out. But then the sound engine seems to periodically hang for a while...

trying out bitwig with alsa and it's crazy smooth. Having used Live before I'm right at home, this would be almost too good to be true if not for the price point. It'll be a while until I can afford that...

In fact, my apt-get is broken, I can't install any .deb. Strange, but not bitwig related.

can you use apt-get to install .debs? I thought you typically do "sudo dpkg -i <package>", that worked for me.

No issues regarding audio yet.
Hmm. I selected both inputs and outputs. Maybe that's it.

Any problems with midi devices?
