Rosegarden 1.7.0-pre1 ready for testing!

! Warning: This message is about a TESTING version, so read it carefully and decide if you like to start testing!
(you can find contact info/ mailinglists here http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/support/)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'We don't usually get much pre-release testing, and we usually do a .0 release
full of embarrassing surprises. We realize that this pre-release candidate
has at least one problem that still qualifies as a showstopper, but I'm not
going to tell you what it is, because if someone finds it, then I know you're
paying attention!

The tarball is available at:

http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/pre/r ... e1.tar.bz2

I have also made a cheap Ubuntu Gutsy package with checkinstall. This is a
crap package that SHOULD NEVER BE MIXED WITH ANY REAL DISTRO PACKAGES! If
you want to try your luck with this, please:

sudo apt-get remove rosegarden rosegarden-data

It will also pull "ubuntustudio-audio" away, if you have it, and many of your
audio apps will now go to "no longer needed and can be removed" status.
Don't autoremove them, and you should be fine. (Be wary of using fancy
graphical package management stuff, as it might decide to do this for you.
Stick with the command line until this experiment is over unless you're
confident otherwise.)

cd /tmp
wget http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net\
/pre/rosegarden-1.7.0-pre1/rosegarden-1.7.0_pre1-1_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i rosegarden-1.7.0-pre1/rosegarden-1.7.0_pre1-1_i386.deb

That should work, although with crappy checkinstall packages there's no
telling if it will actually work on someone else's system or not. If not,
that's what the tarball is for.

Any testing would be greatly appreciated! The first person to find the
showstopping bug we already know about (no fair looking at the tracker!) gets
some fantastic prize to be determined, and the first person to find a
showstopping bug we don't already know about gets an even better fantastic
prize to be determined.

(The prize budget is $0.00, and I'm barely working right now, so don't get too
excited.)

Happy hunting!

Then there is a whole lot of testers needed :)

Maybe on a empty partition on your disk?
