Thanks Jeff.

Just curious, why did you port this one? I see its gpl which is a good reason, but I can't find anything commenting on how good of a distortion it is. I'll have to hear it later, but just for fun I plotted the output from the algorithm.

Kinda interesting, one side is hard clipped to .5 the other has a softer saturation curve at low gains moving to hard clipping at high gain. I'm really curious to hear how it sounds.

Yeah, it's algo is really simple (like 6 lines), and it does do that arbitrary clipping. I tried it out with a guitar sample and it seems on par with those cheap stompboxes. It doesn't have the subtlety/versatility of a good amp head sim. But it took all of 10 minutes to do with LV2 Create, and Autostatic wanted it. i'm gonna try and bang out LV2/LADSPA ports of those gpl vsts. I'm looking at Luftikuus EQ, Scorchcrafter amp sim, and others -- deciding whether I should port one, or spend time instead on eDrummer, Drumbox, my upcoming series of low-latency softsynths for gigging musicians (piano, EP, strings, sax, guitar, bass, etc), or finish looping/cleaning this nice rick bass sample set I found into another sfz. Plus, LV2 create has more planned. So much to do.

For those interested in distortion plugs, there is a new multiband distortion (LV2)plug in the guitarix repository as well.
