Nice thanks !
I wonder how do you manage to still find variations and new sounds, but I am happy that you do

Re: amSynth website coming along fine..
I once thought about the issue of probability and randomness in a synthesizer. How many sounds can one produce?DoosC wrote:Nice thanks !

Well, let's consider:
7 oscillator settings (sine, saw, triangle, square, pulse, noise, s/h) --2 oscillators: 7*7 or 49 combinations. (In reality there are many more, as the triangle morphs to the saw and the square morphs to the pulse)
sync and ring capabilities: 4 combinations. 4*49 = 196.
Six filter possibilities: 6*196 = 1176
Then there are the filter envelope settings, detunings and the LFO effects and drive...
I don't know how many possibilities there are, but the random function helps a lot. Especially since we humans probably are "limited" by our own creativeness, and so randomness helps us to find new possibilities. Any synth without a random function is limited by human creativeness!
Using multiple instances together should be very promising, too!

Thanks nixx--nixx wrote:That sounds awesome!
Which bank / preset?
It's in the "Mixed Bag" bank (on the amsynth page). You need to run 2 instances: one with "Familiar01" and the other with "Familiar02."
Opening 2 instances really allows some neat stuff. Here's a couple others using 2 instances, they'll be in Mixed Bag bank 2:

Thank you for the kind words! Lots more that could be done, if I had time...DoosC wrote:Hey Brian, neat addition !

Re: amSynth website coming along fine..
Hi all!
I'm in the process of moving amsynth.com to a new domain (already online). Having heeded some suggestions, such as utilizing the imbedded web browser player rather than linking back-and-forth to an audio file (most files are in high-quality ogg format, while on the music page files are in both ogg and flac formats), and a domain name a bit more generalized.
The new website? http://www.LinuxSynths.com !
Comments and suggestions always welcome!

Re: amSynth website coming along fine..
Time being short, I like a download option, so I can choose when to
play shared audio files. Especially on soundcloud.
I have a 'friends mp3' folder, to keep any remixes I create.
amsynth sounds fine with whysynth, triceratops, noisemaker, hexter etc.
Good sounds like each other. With 17 banks, it will take a while to pick
a top 170, but a worthy task I'll take on someday.
Cheers

Re: amSynth website coming along fine..
The website is a great resource. You might consider adding Calf Organ to the list since it can make synthy sounds and has many synth-like features.
Re: amSynth website coming along fine..
+1 I was playing with it for the first time the other day. It's definitely a synth.varpa wrote:The website is a great resource. You might consider adding Calf Organ to the list since it can make synthy sounds and has many synth-like features.

Re: amSynth website coming along fine..
Thanks glowrak guy! Let me know your top, well, 20 anyway! I'm of the idea that the 17 banks could be "boiled down" to maybe 6-8 banks, but it won't be something done soon.glowrak guy wrote:Time being short, I like a download option, so I can choose when to

About downloading, did you try right-clicking on your browser player? In Firefox at least, I get a "save audio as" option. I usually check the download option on anything I put on Soundcloud: I'm happy when people feel interested in downloading stuff!

Re: amSynth website coming along fine..
@ varpa and ssj71,
thanks, I've had another recommendation for that one recently as well, so that makes 3. Although the last time I played around with it I couldn't recall getting away from anything that sounded, well, organy... I'll take another look. Hopefully this weekend.
