For me, none of the answers apply. Because none are technical. You've got to listen to your stuff in the kitchen, in the car, at work (headphones) because that's the only way you know how it fares in the small ecosystem you can access. How well it blends with 'life'. If it blends well for you, then there's a chance it will blend well for others too. And also to hear how it fares with other things you are listening to. That is, if one makes music with an ever so slight desire to share. If not, then why bother ?
