I was listening to some music and stumbled on this vid.

I understand how these mix things work with two record players, but I am wondering what this is?
(Some of the knobs in the middle are high low and mid bandpass filters)
Were are the tracks(records) ? are they on her labtop ?
Or are they recorded into this mixing thingy ?
Just wondering
Does anybody know how this mix thingy works ?

She is using 2 Rane Twelve turntable controllers ( https://www.rane.com/twelve-mkii ) with a standard (Pioneer DJM-S3?) DJ mixer. The controllers use those black discs which contain time code enabling the digital tracks to be manipulated similar to vinyl records via Serato or similar DJ software. The audio files can be stored on a laptop or directly on a USB drive.Gps wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 2:26 pm I was listening to some music and stumbled on this vid.

Notice how she touches the mixer a lot without anything audible happening. It's almost a universal trait with DJs, a lot of the audio is pre-mixed and they do it for show. There was a classic troll on Skrillex' Wikipedia page a while back - a photo from behind him showing the DJ table and several thousand at a dance party was captioned "Skrillex presses play on his Macbook Pro"!

LOL, well that explains it for me, thank you.
And yes I notice her regular scratching, but we most of the time don't hear a thing.
I'll stick to Grand Master Flash then for some skills.
They even take away the labtop.

It's not real club DJing unless you have some drunk shouting a spit filled request in your ear for a song you played 10 minutes ago.
