this is really such a hard question to answer since there are so many good female vocalists.however if i was to vote for the best it would be ADELE. She doesn’t use auto tune, doesn’t do choreography, doesn’t court controversy, doesn’t show off her flesh in salacious magazine shoots and bacchanalian promos. When it comes to special effects, Adele’s revolutionary idea is to put a bit of heart and soul into her singing. She looks like her preparations for going on stage amount to slipping into a nice dress and slapping on a bit of lipstick. And the people love her for it.
She is the anti-pop star, the girl who beat many others without even trying.
What is your favorite female vocalist?

Re: What is your favorite female vocalist?
As a team of vocalists, rather than a single female, I love the young ladies from the woshipmob audio/video school/retreat center, the players/singers come and go over time, probably a hundred videos over the last seven or eight years
sometimes the harmonies are a delight:

and these (some duets) have an energy that keeps me getting
younger, the older I get:

I do love Imogen Heap, for her heart-felt if not sometimes gut-wrenching honesty,
which helped shake a depression years ago, and she has a refreshing playfullness at times.
While taking her art very seriously, she doesn't come across as arrogant,
and I'd love to spend a day or six in her studio...and plant a linux setup there
when she was making some tea
