Anyone A Fan of Guy Michelmore on YouTube?

Post by GraysonPeddie »

I've been watching his videos from time to time and I am a huge fan of him with cool orchestral music. Having Kontakt could open a huge door for music production and I love to make use of high-end sample libraries that I cannot use in Linux.

I love to have some epic drums that are used in TRON: Legacy. Anyone a fan of TRON: Legacy?

Here's another video that got me hooked into such an awesome melody that got stuck in my mind from time to time.

I also enjoyed this video demonstrating the free Spitfire orchestra library.

Honestly, if I do buy a Mac Mini along with Kontakt, I'd get the feeling I'd leave the Linux musician community behind. Why? Because I love to write some big-sounding orchestral music with a combination of synthwave or even EDM -- something I could never dream of writing instrumental music in Linux. Sure, I do have Digital Sound Factory that is in SoundFont format, but it's not the best-sounding library by any means and I'm willing to step up to something more expensive. And no, don't get me started with Windows 10. I don't like the look of the taskbar and window elements compared to Windows 7. And because Windows 7 is end-of-life and I can't stand the look and feel of Windows 10, I would much rather have a Mac Mini once I get a job (hopefully soon, as I'm getting into the career of IT).

Maybe then, I could improve my 3 songs with Spitfire's sample library. But then I would take away the impression that all of my songs were exclusively written in Linux.

Anyway, what do you think of Guy Michelmore on YouTube?

No one seems to be interested in his videos... Oh well. I guess the Linux musician community does not care about symphonic orchestra. I will delete my thread if no one is interested in starting a conversation. Not my place to bump my thread.

Guy's a great guy and I enjoy his videos. Kontakt runs just fine on GNU/Linux (at least version 5, I've not tried v6). There are also plenty of orchestral libraries that run natively on GNU/Linux without the need for a proprietary player like Kontakt.

This guy has been burning YouTube for years.
His optimistic delivery and enthusiasm for sample libraries and composition is infectious.
I never miss one of his videos.
