Need help setting up a live show..

I'm thinking of starting up a live show where I will play music and talk to guests, all streamed over the net. To do this I'm going to need some software and a service to stream to. I could do with some suggestions from any of you that're experienced with this stuff.

Website to stream my show to (preferably with a good privacy policy)

Needs:
* To be able to stream for at least a couple hours with a free account.
* Anyone should be able to come along and listen without needing an account or having to download anything.
* Ability for everyone to chat on the stream (preferably without needing an account).

Software to stream/mix from

Needs:
* Ability to que up songs to play one after the other with the next song triggered manually or automatically.
* Be able to accept a mic input so I can talk over the stream.
* Have some basic audio processing functionality (EQ, Compression, Limiting..) as I would like to be able to EQ and compress mine & guests voices and limit the final stream output. I also want to set up sidechain compression so that the music volume ducks out while I'm speaking.
* Being able to have it analyse the loudness of music files in advance then automatically adjust their playback level would also be great.

I suppose I could probably just use a DAW for this. But it would be nice to have a program that's designed for the task. Maybe some kind of live DJ mixing software would work well?

- Currently trying out 'Mixxx'.

Privacy respecting software/web service to chat with guests on stream (preferably without them needing an account)

- I'm thinking Discord?

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Forget about discord, that's really, really not privacy respecting :-)

I was thinking about jitsi.meet but that's more for video conference/video chat.

For the whole audio processing I'd setup carla with some plugins loaded.

Last time I checked Discord's privacy policy it looked pretty good. Maybe it's changed recently? The thing that's good with it is I can just give people a link to my chat room and they can chat via their web browser without signing up or downloading anything. Most people use the usual crap like Skype (which I won't touch) and you know how hard it is to get people to sign up to other things.. I just need to make it hassle free because I know what people are like..

I use Cadence but I'm not sure I've used Carla before. Isn't it just for loading plugin chains?

Cheers.

Hello,

I have used jitsi meet and with that you can just email a link as well so no one has to sign up. It was very
easy. My 86 year old Mom could do it. It looks like it may even be improved since I used it about a year ago.
Here is a link about it: https://jitsi.org/jitsi-meet/ . Maybe you can do what you wish with it.

Otherwise there are some dj software, however, I have not tried those. Someone else here may know
more about that.

Good fortune.

Sincerely,

aicram

Matrix (via Riot.im/app) offers guest access too.
It's opensource and federated. It has jitsi meet built in but I like a standalone jitsi window better.
Dunno if you need an account to create a room though.
You could even bridge that room to an irc channel, discord channel, telegram channel, slack channel.
 OK basically bridge it to anything.

icecast for audio streaming
(shoutcast if ok with closed-source and want extra features like auto-dj background player when not on air)

you can find some free stream hosting, but most have limitations that may make it difficult to integrate to a website:
limited time/bandwidth or inserting their own adverts (usually with option to upgrade to pro subscription plan)

96k stream for free is ok for talk radio, but for music normally want at least 128k

for broadcasting software - Internet DJ Console
has everything needed for playing music; taking calls from VOIP; soundboard for jingles etc
has some built-in DSP for mic/aux channels and takes care of all the audio routing including the 'mix-minus' needed for callers

Mixxx can also stream to icecast/shoutcast if you want more DJ tools
but would have to sort out some more audio routing for adding VOIP

a lot of the stations i worked on are not around any more
but this one may help show how it all works: Reclaimed Radio
most of the live shows (only one or two per day) are broadcast from IDJC
(except for Saturday reggae show where host is still on Windows)
