Can someone pls explain to me what is an arpeggio?

Post by oldcastle »

Hi,

I started working on this tutorial https://synthctrl.com/blogs/blog/how-to ... wave-track and got stuck on the second step, the arp. So, I tried to find some info about arpeggio on the Internet, but all seems confusing to me. I read that arpeggio is a chord played in sequence, instead of all notes together. That's it? If that's the case, why do we have some arp vst/apps, can't we just use MIDI?

As you can see, I'm quite lost. Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

Yes, and arpeggio is just a chord broken up into individual notes, played in a sequence. The arpeggiator plugin just allows you to write a chord, instead of having to write out each note. For example, the tutorial you linked to suggests setting up the arpeggiator to play 16 notes per bar, but they only had to write out 4 whole notes to set it up.
