Four to the Floor ? house / disco groove

Post by Gps »

I hope this is the right place to ask.

I am having a 4 to the floor issue.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WpudasPafg

4m42 sec, I don't get what earl young does or maybe I should say how to do this in LMMS, after he changes it up again. 5m55

Kick kick kick kick
.......snare......snare
hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi(hat)

Is the part I get, but then after he changes it up

( So for those who don't like disco and house and what came after it, now you know who to blame  )

Correct, and in addition to the open hi-hats on the up-beat, he's doing a lot of snare work with varying loudness/velocity. Great groove.

I should hire him as drum machine.

He makes a joke about this, he says, back then we did not have drum computers, I was the drum computer.

Thank you, I will try this.

I want to make funky music, and am slowly starting to see the light.

I seem to have a blind spot though, when it comes to daws and were I want to put the notes.
