I need a new desk for my studio area. Any suggestions would be well received.

The only features that I require would be:
* room for two monitors and plenty of elbow room
* I don't want a keyboard tray, I would keep the keyboard on the top surface
* drawers (ala a regular desk)
* and a hutch of sorts to allow for the monitors.

Any suggestions?

[edit] I was looking at a roll-top desk at one point but they typically have too many little cubby holes/drawers to accommodate two monitors.

If you don't build it yourself, they say this is a good brand:

Building your own desk is possibly the best solution regarding the price and the fitness to your needs.
You can build one as mine with 4 or 5 pieces of wood and several little pieces of iron bended with a 90 degrees angle and that have holes to fix them on the wood with screws. In spanish they are called angles. They are small versions of the pieces to fix the shelves on the wall.

The procedure is very simple. One large piece of wood is placed at the top. Two equal smaller pieces are placed at the edges of the large one, being the legs of the desk. The key point of the desk model is another piece of wood placed at the back going from leg to leg and perpendicular to the top surface. This piece gives a lot of stability. You must go joining everyghing through the iron angles.

Here some photos of my desk. It is 2'10 meters long for no more than 40 euros and 3 or 4 hours of work. ... directlink ... directlink

note 1: You should buy the pieces of wood already cutted with the measures that you want.
note 2: My desk has a third leg placed near the left edge because due to its longitude it bended with only two legs.
note 3: At the end you should put some sort of heels at the legs in order to protect and minimize the surface of contact between the desk and the floor.

Cool, thanks for the pics! I have heard of pretty cool DIY desk project involving old doors as well. Seems like it might be the best way to get something custom on the cheap.
