What processor?

Post by folderol »

Is anyone here still running audio on a machine with the older dual core (without multi-threading) processors?

Oldest dual core I've been using was a T2500 in a laptop, however last week I swapped that out for a T7400 to turn the machine into 64 bit.

A processor without multi threading? I think that was before 2000. My, very old, dual core processor:

Code: Select all

Year: 2013
Dual Core
model name: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU G1620 @ 2.70GHz
Product Collection: Intel® Celeron® Processor G Series

I don't do stuff that's hard for a processor. I also use a Chromebook with Linux for audio stuff and I even use Qtractor sometimes on an antique Asus eeePC 901 (which is too slow for anything internet!). It depends very, very much on what exactly you want to do. Don't use a Windows DAW on Linux. And be careful with Windows VST's bridged to Linux.
