Housekeeping

Post by OccinticLady »

Hi all,
Inevitably, there is the end of a (sub)project and the point where the mixdown is a fact.
Before hopping to the next project, I feel some housekeeping to be in order.
How do you guys do that?
I collect notes along the way, configurations and such. As well as the final product (as a FLAC file or such)
So...any tips?
As a side note, I'm still trying to "record" the setup. Okay, I can write things down and recreate the connections. And I gound Gladish (the ones suggested are not in the Repo, unless they're not available for 32 bit...)...that may really help when setting things up. Thinking far ahead...as in "live performance"...
Thanks for meditating along with me...

Don't have answers, but such questions were leading myself towards full daw, where all the plugins-effects-etc are in one project.

I have written my own session management for this and named it QTR-Suite.
I create/choose a song within that session management and it gives me options to

- have possibilities to write notes (like lyrics etc.) per song into a text file
- - when selecting a song in the GUI the content of such text file is immediately present in the GUI

- get an (automatically created) overview about the tracks used in Qtractor
- - in Qtractor I name my tracks after the Synth plugin and the sound used (e.g. track name: MIDI - Bladerunner - TyrellN6)

- get a list of songs already archived and therefor no longer present in the main song list

plus

- switch between full main song list and cut-down main song list (which includes only songs that are not yet mixed down to stereo)

besides some more useful functions and options.
