Tascam DR 05X

Post by colonel_panic »

Hello folks. Just a quick question.

I understand you can use this cheap field recorder as a usb interface/microphone. Is this true on Linux?

I have actually read conflicting things online with some people saying the device can only use USB to power up. Is it hard to understand, or maybe a firmware thing?

I had a look at the webpage and I think there is a good chance it will work with Linux. Without trying it we can't be 100% sure but the fact it works with iOS means it's class compliant which means there is a good chance it will work with Linux.

I've got a DR-07, which is pretty old now, from before the DR-07X and my recorder does not work as an interface. According to the website the 'X' range all work as interfaces so maybe the confusion is with DR-05 vs DR-05X.

My DR22WL is just a storage device over USB/WLAN, and has stereo out to record and writes WAV to the micro-sd card.
