Hey there;
I currently have two sound cards in my gear. One ESI juli@ PCI card and a presonus audiobox USB. I consider adding a good headphone to use in my mixes and mastering endevours. Probably I'll get these phones because of their quality of sound for the price paid:

The phones come in three different ohms (32, 80 and 250 ohms) and here begins my confusion. I'd like to use the phones with both the juli@'s speaker output (with and adapter) and audiobox's headphone output. Here are the specs for them:
juli@'s user manual says the minimum impedance of the speakers (or headphones) connected to the analog output must be 100 ohms.
audiobox's specs say that the maximum output of the headphones out is 60 mW/Ch @ 60 Ω Load.
I want a setup in which I can get the maximum volume out of the audiobox headphones out while I can drive the headphones from juli@'s analog output with a low volume. So which ohm headphones should I get (32, 80 or 250)? Thanx for the answers.

250 I think. But I wouldn't recommend the DT-770, they're quite boomy.

Thats I'm most afraid of. Yet another DJ biased basshead headphone like all the others claiming to be "the" unbiased studio monitor headphone. How boomy is it compared to say audio technica ath-50m or shure SRH940 (these are the ones I've listened to so far). Have you got any suggestions for a flat, neutral monitor headphone?AutoStatic wrote:250 I think. But I wouldn't recommend the DT-770, they're quite boomy.

I would recommend Sennheiser HD 280 Pro :
- quite easy on the budget : http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-280 ... B000065BPB
- and frequency response speaks for itself : http://www.headphone.com/headphones/sen ... 80-pro.php

Thanx DoosC for this nice headphone for the buck but I'd rather go with a phone with decent soundstage.DoosC wrote:I would recommend Sennheiser HD 280 Pro :

Haven't done any A/B-ing with other headphones myself but there were some relevant threads about it on the LAU (Linux Audio Users) mailinglist:barbarbaron wrote:Have you got any suggestions for a flat, neutral monitor headphone?
