Hello from Chesterfield, Derbyshire, UK

Post by The Tutor »

I'm so happy to have discovered KXStudio. Now at last I can gig my little netbook, together with my Yamaha MU128, instead of having to lug my PSR3000 about in its heavy flightcase.

What am I using it for? You'll never believe it ...

I do barn dances (or ceilidhs) and have sequenced all the dance music so that I can keep the costs down for the punter. Since nobody ever really looks at the band anyway, in many cases they're just audio wallpaper! (Controversial, I know, but still ... say what you mean!) I find that most people can't tell the difference between a recording of a band and the "live" MIDI that I give them with my setup.

So -- here I am on LinuxMusicians, hoping to pick up lots more tips and tricks. You're never too old to learn! (I'm nearly 62, by the way).

That MU128 is a great device, I hope to own one, someday! :)
Helping people dance away the blues, is a great vocation!

It sounds to me like you have a working plan.

Is it just you doing the live part, or are there other players involved?

What sort of sound system do you find workable? (watts/size/power requirements, AC volts/current/or DC, can it be carried all at once in a small vehicle?)
