Hello, world!

Post by starfry »

HI first post to say hello.

I'm a seasoned Linux veteran, been tinkering on-and-off with audio and music workstation software on Linux.

I use Arch and have a working setup using Jack with Carla hosting various plugins, sfzs, etc, and playing nicely with PulseAudio. I have a weighted 88-keyboard connected to my workstation, a ThinkPad T580, plus some other bits (keystation32, subzero minicontrol). I also have the keyboard connected to another "module" that is a headless Raspberry Pi as a convenient "just switch on and play" for when the laptop is in use elsewhere or for more "normal" family members who just want to play the keyboard and not worry about computers. The Pi that can be turned on and off "hard", I've build a read-only root verison of Arch for that, and I built my own MIDI interface to the GPIO UART pins.

I have been to this site many times but only just signed up now because it looks likely I'll need to ask some questions...
