Hi from Jeanette

Post by jeanette_c »

Hey hey,
I've shared a long time with Linux and music. Since I prefer mailinglists I've been a member of Linux Audio Users until a friend alerted me to a topic of interest. So I've landed. :)
I'm currently on an Arch system running solely in the commandline. I love my CLI tools, partly perhaps because I am blind, but also because they can be so efficient.
My musical tastes are a little eclectic, but selective. Right now there is a lot of EDM in man guises, which you can find on my youtube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMS4rf ... 7jhC1Jnv7g
and on my own website:
http://juliencoder.de
Beyond the EDM, I love baroque music, still have a soft spot for progressive rock, some metal, if it has enough harmonics and keys, synthpop and more.
Besides the software, I love my hardware synths, for their sounds, haptic experience and interactive nature.
I love sound design and synth design (to a degree). I enjoy trying to emulate things that interest me in Csound, with or without changes. I also enjoy binaural spatialisation and all that could involve. :)
A passion that joined music recently is "graphic design". It's fine to laugh. :) I discovered povray, just when I needed to create a logo, since I couldn't find anyone else to do it for me. I now have a 3d, if simplistic, video logo for my youtube channel that I can use as an intro. :) When I could I also used this newly discovered capability to create a few more stills for a few songs.
That has always been one reason why I love my Linux: there are so many clever commandline utilities and programs that can even "compile" artistic material from powerful and feature-rich languages. What better way to circumvent complex GUIs and save on very fast CPUs.

I hope this introduction wasn't too long and rambling. Thanks for reading, great to be here!

Best wishes, Jeanette

Welcome! @milo here linked to your music and I think it's really great, I was wholly impressed by your attention to melody and choice of sounds. I think your music is a milestone for the whole GNU/Linux music-making community!
