Hi can you please share more info about the trial? It's supposed to work. What error are you getting?sergionexus wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 3:29 pm I have tried compiling on Kubuntu 20.04, but there has been no way. I tried also the Trial Installer, but don't work. Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here
I run the installer on console but it does nothing, no output about what's going on. I open the folder of the installer and try to install the DEB package but again, it does absolutely nothing.alextee wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 10:35 pmHi can you please share more info about the trial? I'm 41 years old, I was using Linux since the age of stone, and now I only want to use Linux, I don't want to waste time fixing it. That was funny when I was 20, but now I'm tired of that, so I go to the app store, search for Ardour, press the install button and that's all. I can be productive since the first minute. When your app reach the official repositories I'll give it a try, but for now I give up.

fair enough, thanks for the info/feedback. very strange that it does nothing. many people already use it on ubuntu 20.04 and derivatives using the installer without problems.sergionexus wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 4:32 pmI run the installer on console but it does nothing, no output about what's going on. Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here
Argh, I don't have that stuff to compile: meson & ninja.
Don't want to install this.
So, don't want to test further or even trying to use it.
Thanks, though I don't have any time to waste on that!

Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here
Hi!
@alextee
Just so you don't lose hope I tried the Zrythm trial here on AV Linux 2020 (based on Debian 10) and it's all working as expected, very impressive work over an unbelievably short time period! Kudos to you! I'm frustrated with Ardour MIDI and have been for years, maybe after some more time Zrythm will be the ticket and free me from my ancient EnergyXT...lol
Keep up the great work!!

Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here
Ok. I tried Giada (another music software) in AppImage version and I can confirm that it works fine with Jack, so AppImage could be a good option. To make versions for all the type of packages and distros out there it's a pain in the ass. AppImage or Flatpack (perhaps Snap?) is the future of Linux aplications IMO.alextee wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 10:14 pmfair enough, thanks for the info/feedback. very strange that it does nothing. many people already use it on ubuntu 20.04 and derivatives using the installer without problems.sergionexus wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 4:32 pmI run the installer on console but it does nothing, no output about what's going on. P.S. During the day I will change Kubuntu for Manjaro, and I will try again.

Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here
I think you're missing breeze-icons. did you run the installer script or did you just install the deb file? i think just installing the deb file doesn't install the dependencies, so you need to run the installer (which will install breeze-icons for you). debian is weird when it comes to this.TAERSH wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 1:01 amOk, it was the only package I could find to download.alextee wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 10:15 pmyou're compiling the website (zrythm-web)! here: https://git.zrythm.org/cgit/zrythm/

EDIT: or it could be you're on debian 9. that's not supported anymore

Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here
thanks! still needs a lot of work but we're getting closer to beta!GMaq wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 3:30 am Hi!
@alextee

Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here
For anyone who compiles their own software, having all mainstream build systems installed is a must. I think the benefits of it far outweigh the disadvantages.

Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here
I'm running my own Linux build based on Bionic Beaver 64bit. It's a Puppy Linux named ArtStudio64. A full featured Audio, Graphics and Video Studio plus all that other stuff like internet, office etc.alextee wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 10:15 pm
I think you're missing breeze-icons. did you run the installer script or did you just install the deb file? i think just installing the deb file doesn't install the dependencies, so you need to run the installer (which will install breeze-icons for you). debian is weird when it comes to this.
EDIT: or it could be you're on debian 9. that's not supported anymore
It's the .deb package I'd installed. There were two dependencies I installed additionally and it started showing the GUI. But immediately the crashing message appeared.
Yes, my System is missing the breeze icons.
Probably I will give it a go later after installing the breeze icons for testings.
Though, I don't have yet some time for this.

Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here
I'm already on my limits trying to compile the default stuff like e.g. Qtractor with VST3 enabled etc.
When I'm looking what's needed to be installed in addition to compile it and to install meson & ninja, my toenails are rolling up.
Compiling Qtractor with VST3 enabled seemed to be a kids game compared to this...

Re: Hello, Zrythm developer here
not my fault that apt is the dumbest package manager of all and needs the following commands to actually install its own packages properly (unless there's some other magic command I don't know of):
apt update && dpkg -i mydebfile.deb || apt install -f -y
the installer.sh script is the correct way to install it anyway, this is mentioned in the README. if your distro is not detected then please let me know what your /etc/os-release file says and I'll add it
