Hi from Rio de Janeiro

Post by pdechery »

Hi,

My name's Pierre Dechery, I'm a programmer and musician from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

I started to use Linux in 2016 to do programming. I didn't knew back then how this simple choice would make me an entirely new type of programmer (to my mind, a better one).

I heard about Ardour in 2017, when I was already trying to make my way into digital music production. My main goal was (still is) just to record my own songs, with everything I had in mind for them. Since moving from Linux wasn't an option (still isn't) I've installed it, bought a license and started my way into it.

I've used Reaper and Audacity before and found Ardour a bit menacing at first. It took me some time but my workflow with this DAW gets smoother everyday. With time I started to include other software like Hydrogen and Guitarix (this one very recently) in the mix. I know there's more nice stuff out there and maybe here I can learn about it as well as share what I've already learned.

My main styles are Rock, Blues and Brasilian Music in general, which, like every genre, is a little world in itself. To try to resume things a bit I'd say I like 70's and 90's rock the most, but there's a lot of things I'm into that would be hard to list here.

So this is it, thanks for having me here and let's make music!

Pierre

Welcome Pierre! Glad to have you here!

I have a similar setup and have been using the tools for about as long as you have. This forum is a great place to hang out if you want to learn about the Linux audio tools, and you can even rub shoulders with some of the developers.

Where can we find your music?

Any chances to get a Brazilian Portuguese section in this forum? I'm from São Paulo and using Linux since 2008.
