Hello from Washington State

Post by IronRod »

Greetings. I've been an amateur musician and vocalist for 40+ years, worked in computer hardware/administration/software (DevOps, mostly Microsoft Stack) for 30+ years. Got into Linux about 5-6 years ago and currently running Linux Mint/Cinnamon. After years of being away from MIDI/electronic music, decided to get back into it and got my Mint system connected to my Technics PR603M digital piano, currently working with RoseGarden.

Wow, lots of experience both in music and IT! Surely you will like it there. Welcome :D

Thanks. Unfortunately, I just had RG puke in the middle of a session which didn't leave me warm and fuzzy :| I was editing a note in Matrix Editor and it just disappeared. So, guess I'll look around at some others sequencers. I'm early enough into this that I am not yet invested in any particular software and willing to try something else.

I thought you were going to say "guess I'll look at the core dump and see if I can find out what went wrong."

Seriously though, don't give up just because of one crash - it might be that you're running an old release and there has been a subsequent bug fix.

There has in fact been a lot of development in the last 6 months or so. And it's centered mostly on obscure bug fixes - very successfully!
I would recommend grabbing the source and building
