Hello from a french Hammond B3 clone maker
I am 63 old and living on the west coast of France, in Brittany. Well, almost everything is in the title... I started this clone project 4 years ago; it is based on the setBfree B3 emulator running on Raspberry PI. Electronics and software run fine. The carpentry is completed, but the bench is still to be manufactured. I have discovered the backupband software here and intend to add it to my organ.

Have I spoken to you before? If not, there's another guy around here who is doing exactly the same thing as you. If so, you guys should share ideas.Georges wrote: discovered the backupband software and intend to add it to my organ.
Before you do any mods to the code, wait for me to release the latest source code. It has been significantly changed from the code currently at the site, and you'll want to use the latest version with no GUI (and compile it on the PI).

Will be very interested to learn more about your project, I have a Hammond L-100 and Leslie (little brother of B3, same tonewheel guts) in our studio but it would be great to have a fully functional 'software Hammond' for gigs with proper controls and drawbars etc..

Re: Hello from a french Hammond B3 clone maker
I am doing a global answer here : yes Jeff, we already talked about backupband; I had trouble with my previous account and had to create a new one. I did notice you have released a new version of BB with no GUI and I look forward to test it, but I am currently working on my drawbars controls circuit to make it simpler. I want to end up with only 4 USB connections to the Raspberry PI :
1 - Drawbars
2 - Keyboards
3 - Pedals
4 - Controls (vibrato/chorus, percussions, leslie, expression pedal)
I would be glad to show you some pictures, if I knew how to do that on the forum.

Re: Hello from a french Hammond B3 clone maker
Hello Georges,
You seem to be making a dream come thru.
I'm Giovanni from Brazil.
I'm having the same idea as you but in a rufthier state.
I recently watched a Yamaha Synth Space History video on Youtube (https://youtu.be/BXWxs1lglBk) and opened my mind to the world of organs.
I'm a church musician and I'm thinking of using a real organ in my praise. Today I own a Yamaha P-105 entry-level electric piano, which doesn't have much sound options. It's a great feeling keyboard, but it doesn't have a lot of features.
I'm thinking of making a mobile organ station, like a combined organ, with dual 61-key manuals and a future pedal option. It would be great if I could emulate a Hammond-like sound, a VOX-like sound, a Farfisa-like sound, and a Yamaha YC-like feeling. I'm a Yamaha fanboy. It would be awesome if I could use some effects like the pedals used on the original organs.
I found some different emulators like: Setbfree, Foo-Yc20 and Bristol VOX300. But I'm still not very familiar with all the connections between MIDI and my computer. So I would like to know if I can use the Calf Organ as a synth base to generate the sound for all the inputs (manuals and pedals) and process the sound in some of its effects.
I'm in a state of testing it. I try to simulate a hammond drawbars in Calf Organ, but I can't insert the harmonics, as are on this image https://www.hammondtoday.com/wp-content ... wbars.jpeg. Can anyone help me?
I'm new on the forum too, so if it not the place to write this questions, please, teach me.
Sorry for my poor english. Thanks to the attention.

Hi Giovanni,
I am afraid I can't help you since you are taking a way quite far from mine. I don't know anything about Calf Organ.
I think you should post you request to another place in the forum, but I don't know which one...
Best regards,
Georges

Sorry for the poor image quality; 256K is quite low... I have left the electronics uncovered to show you what is inside, but I do have wood panels to close the cabinet.

Hmmm... the author of setBfree is much better than me.
But thank you for the kind words.
