I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T530.
Everything works except the WebCam. Can anyone tell me how to get the WebCam to work? Thank you.

I don't see anything looking like a webcam in there, so maybe this will help:

In the Bios menu under i/o access the integrated camera is displayed as activated. So there should be one built in.
According to manufacturer: Webcam: 720p HD Resolution.
Also pressing the fn + CAM (F6) has no effect (WebCam on/off).
With another live distribution I had not tested yet because I actually want to use Debian.
I was suggested to update the bios, which I would try as a last resort. Is that the right thing to do then? https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/de/de/prod ... (ThinkPad)???
Unfortunately there is no T530 listed here. http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/ (https://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Thinkpad-acpi)

It should work somehow without updating the bios?

Hello,

I just did a quick research for your laptop model and found something at this link:

https://www.linuxquestions.org/question ... 175613565/
and this link:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:T530

The code below may help find info for your webcam:
Code:

bash-4.4$ grep b2ea /usr/share/hwdata/usb.ids
b2ea Integrated Camera [ThinkPad]
bash-4.4$ grep 04f2 /usr/share/hwdata/usb.ids
04f2 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd

Cheese has not always worked well for me, but guvcview has. I would install uvcvideo and v4l2, v4l,etc. and anything else related to video. You may have to add yourself to the video group. It has been awhile so do not remember everything well. I would especially install uvcdynctrl and libwebcam. Once you install uvcdynctrl it may be interesting to test it with that first and/or guvcview.

I do not believe you would have to upgrade the bios to make this work.

If I find out more, I will let you know.

Good fortune with this.

Solved: The WebCam is optional for the T530. :? You can install a WebCam afterwards, there is no WebCam on my laptop.
