Are there any up to date links about ubuntu music?

I was looking through linuxmusicians and found some rather old articles
How up to date are these links ?

Is ALSA still the heart of the linux sound?
Or did it change meanwhile?

Can someone provide me of a link to a good and recent article about troubleshooting and starting up ubuntu/linux sound?

I added another Ubuntu link to the wiki page that links to all sorts of pages.

As I understand it ALSA is still there, with Pulseaudio on top. I know I've had to restart ALSA sometimes, but I still don't fully understand how it works.
