wiki.linuxmusicians update
Hi,
@NAthan
Can we have a topic in the announcements area where we can post a message if someone updated the wiki?
Procedure:
1) Add something to the wiki
2) post in that topic that you changed and a summary of what you changed/ added
It will keep the wiki alive

Re: wiki.linuxmusicians update
might be nice, though there's also the automatically-generated 'recent changes' page of course
Re: wiki.linuxmusicians update
Ok, but I think some update news on this forum would be better..raboof wrote:might be nice, though there's also the automatically-generated 'recent changes' page of course

I still think this idea of mine will improve this community...studio32 wrote:Ok, but I think some update news on this forum would be better..raboof wrote:might be nice, though there's also the automatically-generated 'recent changes' page of course
Isn't it possible to sync the recent changes' page, Raboof is talking about, with our forum? e.g. that memebers can see those recent change messages on the forum board?
I think it will bring the wiki more to life!!:)

Re: wiki.linuxmusicians update
I'll check into it. Seems like only way we could automatically do this would be via RSS feeds, and it seems like development on mods to get rss to forum topics is stalled at the moment. One alternative we may consider is a semi-weekly email newsletter to all the members, highlighting our most active topics, welcoming new members, and spotlighting wiki articles.

Such a weekly newletter would be nice... but it will cost you more time.nathan wrote:I'll check into it. So I think a automated sync is what I prefer...
But you can do both of course... they don't have to be dependent of each other...

An advantage of a newsletter is for people who don't surf around on the net but just check their e-mails.
Some people prefer mailinglists, some prefer a forum. Such a weekly newsletter would give a LinuxMusicians connection to the latter group too. (sort of)

Re: wiki.linuxmusicians update
I'm all for a weekly/biweekly/monthly email update. I probably can't head that up if it's anything more frequent than monthly, though. If there's a community volunteer, I'm sure we could work something out!
