Bandwidth problems?

Post by Chipfryer »

It seems as though the forum stalls out increasingly lately. Are there some bandwidth problems?

10 minutes just to get to this and reply :D
Might be a router down somewhere between me and your server perhaps Nathan?
No one else then?

I experienced serious connection problems last night, today everything is fine again. Happens occasionally, and seems to depend on the time of day. Perhaps it's simply the trans-atlantic connection being overloaded.

We used to have terrible problems, but things have been okay for me lately as I've been checking up on stuff. Keep me posted if things get worse...

The waits are getting discouraging. Five to ten minutes waiting for a page to show up so I can post a reply does not encourage participation. :(

All other sites load fine, no lengthy waiting.

Best,

Thanks for the update. Anybody else having performance issues? If so, please post and let me know so I can better represent our issues to the hosting provider.

It's been unusually slow for some days here, too - nothing close to what Dave is experiencing though, but some pages taking 10-15 seconds to load is still annoying.

Looking with firebug, it seems like the images are loaded quickly, and it's the php pages that are slow - which would indicate CPU/memory/database problems rather than bandwidth.

At
sat jun 5 10:00:00 UTC 2010, more or less,
I couldn't post a message because the site was completely off.
Now it is a bit laggy but much better than this morning.
Regards, Pablo

We've had database issues before with our hosting provider. Let's see if it clears up in a day or so, and if not I'll open a support ticket.
