https leading to grus.uberspace.de?

Post by GraysonPeddie »

If you try to go to a page that had an HTTPS such as

Code: Select all

https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=11096
Chrome and Firefox will complain about the certificate being untrusted (Chrome)/invalid (Firefox).

This is what I'm getting in Chrome:
This is probably not the site you are looking for!

You attempted to reach linuxmusicians.com, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as grus.uberspace.de. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of linuxmusicians.com.
And I do apologize for going off-topic in here: http://www.linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic ... 679#p48679 (note that there isn't an "s" in "https" when I post a link) I was way too worried over the top to make me think that there's some middle-of-a-man attack going on.

I wonder how could anyone wen to https://linuxmusicians.com/ ("https") without getting a certificate warning? I thought I'd bypass the warning, but that's just way too foolish of me to do that. I'm using Ubuntu with Google Chrome, though.

Music Interest: New Age w/ a mix of modern smooth jazz, light techno/trance & downtempo -- something Epcot Future World/Tomorrowland-flavored.

Sorry, I still have to fix that. Use 'www.linuxmusicians.com' and you should be fine for now.

OK, the proper certificate should be installed now (uberspace is awesome).

You might still get a message when you don't trust CACert - to fix that, see http://wiki.cacert.org/FAQ/BrowserClien ... serClients .

Ah, no need to import. It's working when I click in a link with an https. Thanks!

Next time this happens, I will report the issue in the forum.
