Qtractor strange behaviour whil recording midi [solved]

Post by Capoeira »

when i record midi from my midikeyboard i can see the events placed in the right place. after stopping the recording one part of the miditrack gets cuttet and the rest is moved to the left.
very strange.

isn't that because you're recording while also in loop? when recording is disengaged the recorded clip unfolds over the time line as if it would be recorded without looping. qtractor doesn't loop-overdub yet :)

if looping is not set, then you probably found a terrible bug in there ... :(

cheers

The pause button is the same as the play button. Under the menu Transport you can choose if you want the playhead to "autobackward" or not. Also, to move the playhead you can drag it or just hold Ctrl and click where you want it to be. To place starting points, or however they're called, just click on the timeline and it will place a blue line.

Than I found a bug i guess, because no matter if i choose "autobackward" or not, the red line always goes back (yes i press play-button)

Man, that's weird. It haven't happened to me ever. All I can suggest is that you try the latest svn trunk...

http://qtractor.sourceforge.net/qtracto ... s.html#SVN

Or just wait for Rui's answer.

goes back where? maybe there's some other jack-transport-aware application there that forces it back to zero when playback stops rolling... can it be hydrogen? ardour?

starting from 0.4.8, yes there is a "pause/stop" button: it's the blue square button just to the left of good old "play" one (blue triangle) which used to and still does work as "pause/play" toggle, as ever was :)

cheers

No problems here either. Maybe there's another JACK client active that also uses Jack Transport and locates to 0 when you press Play/Pause in Qtractor? And in a lot of programs and hardware the Play button and the Pause button are one and the same button. And only recently a Stop button was added to Qtractor, even though it does exactly the same as pressing Play a second time.

Best,

Jeremy

I can't believe I didn't realize the "Stop" button! I have the latest SVN and all but I just didn't pay attention...
