Re: Bitwig 8-track, getting it for free and limitations etc
I don't think so. I might be getting that 16-track version, but full version of bitwig is too much for me. Will see how it goes, that 2xVST limit is making snooping around with bitwig bit too limited, and may end up causing that I don't get any version. Will see.WforWoollyMammoth wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 5:15 pm The 8-track version as a demo is okay, but the 16-track version is just pointless.

I used carla rack as one of the vst's on Bitwig 8-track, and it didn't snoop around to see if I had it loaded with plugins.
I made a nice effect chain with 5 plugins. I'm sure I could have loaded many more. So the plugin limit is subject
to what one can do with a pair of Carla's, including using a multi-timbral Yoshimi or two, as part of the collection.
Cheers

Sure, but you can't have 4 synth tracks.glowrak guy wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 6:26 am I used carla rack as one of the vst's on Bitwig 8-track, and it didn't snoop around to see if I had it loaded with plugins.

Re: Bitwig 8-track, getting it for free and limitations etc
I've been using 8-track some amount, and indeed, I like it. However, 8-track 2 vst limitation bites really hard. Bitwigs own synths available in 8-track are pretty weak, getting sounds I like from them seem to be out of question.
So I am now considering to upgrade to 16-track. Right now it costs 79€. I have impression that Bitwig rarely has any discounts, and anyway their discounts are small.
One thing that still makes me hesitating is packaking thing: latest beta is flatpak, and there has been stories that people can't use their plugins. I have many windows plugins I use, and it is 100% sure they won't be in flatpak format. I haven't tried flatpak-version myself, have been waiting that someone else will fix the problem And sure that someone can be Bitwig, they can fix things way I cannot.

Support told me that they will be reconsidering the packaging options.

And now flipping coin, to get 16-track or affordable second hand full version. Sure I will pay extra in case 16-track would be enough, but if I finally end up to full version, then it is bargain to get full version in 220€. But it is still lots of money, much more I have ever spent on single software
