Linux Based Midi Clip Launchers
Is there a midi clip launcher program, where it receives a midi note and it plays a midi pattern sequence that was stored for that note and sends it back to the DAW?
Basically a midi sampler, but without a sound source? Like seq24 but possibly updated ?

Tried seq66. Compiled a version but it crashes.
The non based programs have some kind of issue with the non tool kit. Looks like ntk is not available from the original makers on a git like platform. Not sure what's up with that.

There is few seq24 forks, at least seq42 and seq192, maybe those work for you?muzikermammoth wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 10:30 am Tried seq66. Compiled a version but it crashes.

Re: Linux Based Midi Clip Launchers
Probably need to explore seq42 more, I've got it compiled here, but can it receive midi input to trigger the clips? It didn't seem to be able to do that

Re: Linux Based Midi Clip Launchers
Hmm, wouldnt the upcoming clip launching feature for Ardour cover this?muzikermammoth wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 6:54 am Is there a midi clip launcher program, where it receives a midi note and it plays a midi pattern sequence that was stored for that note and sends it back to the DAW?

Can launch audio clips and midi clips.
It's out for Mixbus 32c already so should not be too far off for Ardour v7 eiter.
A little demonstration from the launch video: https://youtu.be/a-ayZGD-7zQ?t=162
And the demo Paul Davis did for Ardour a few months back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiwUN7hz6eU

Re: Linux Based Midi Clip Launchers
It's not obvious how seq42 can launch clips through midi. seq192 seems to allow this but it's only through osc. I'd prefer to trigger clips through midi, because i don't want to run a pure data midi to osc type bridge, which seems like extra cpu cycles gone.
I've compiled a version of ardour7 but the clip functionality wasn't really working and it was crashing often.
The non-sequencer has a control midi in, but it doesn't say how to map midi to which clip to start/stop etc.

I suspect that Mixbus is not a 7..pre0 https://rsrc.harrisonconsoles.com/mixbu ... -in-32c-v8, but Ardour is https://nightly.ardour.org/list.php 42.muzikermammoth wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 5:24 pm I've compiled a version of ardour7 but the clip functionality wasn't really working and it was crashing often.

I'd imagine they are giving Mixbus a couple weeks head start on new features as a thank you for the support they get from them.khz wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 9:05 pmI suspect that Mixbus is not a 7..pre0 https://rsrc.harrisonconsoles.com/mixbu ...

I also think that MB uses a more current, more stable version. Ardour will follow very soon, when it is no longer a -pre version.christobal wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 1:47 pmI'd imagine they are giving Mixbus a couple weeks head start on new features as a thank you for the support they get from them.

https://github.com/jean-emmanuel/seq192
it supports only OSC to control it but its pretty neat and works really well!
There is also a web interface for it

Re: Linux Based Midi Clip Launchers
Editing this post, midiLooper, from the pizmidi plugin suite, available here as a binary and works for me in Ubuntu 22.04:
https://github.com/sleiner/pizmidi/acti ... 3185734351
I had previously posted that I could not get these plugins to work by compiling them myself, but the binaries are available at the link above, so no need to compile!
Ignore my original post (should I just delete it?):
https://github.com/sleiner/pizmidi Maybe worth a try - this is a reboot of the pizmidi plugins which include midiLooper, a very capable midi clip launcher/loop recorder. I have compiled the plugins under Ubuntu 22.04 and 22.04 and the compile completes but the plugins won't open for me in REAPER or Carla. Maybe you will have better luck...
