Just a quick note...

Post by OccinticLady »

Hi all,
To those that dont know me: I'm the new girl. Hi.
I made my intro in the forum a few ago and explained my "quandry" ("please grade my setup") and had the advice to concentrate everything onto one box.
So, yesterday, I did just that, though...not a box...it is a laptop.
No xruns, no glitch. I opened seq24, QJackctl and three synths (XynaddSubFX)...and it did'nt even blink at the workload...
Nice.
Two boxes are retired, now. And I think...I can (finally) enter production
Thanks to all that helped...

Great! One computer is less complicated and more environmentally friendly than several connected via e.g. netjack.
Have you installed the KXStudio repositories? Then take instead of seq24 the seq^64, is more current software and from the number 40 more which is always better. ;-)
Bsequencer with BSchaffl and ... is also very musical.
Welcome to the infinite freedom of possibilities.

And Seq (24 OR 64) is something I understand.
I used to "play" (big word) music (another big word, here) with RaveEjay. Stacking blocks one after the other.
The effect was nice, and could never go wrong, but you only had so many Lego bricks :D

This allows me to go further on the "stacking" idea but for the bricks myself.
One thing to research: entering music via the MIDI controller instead of "painting"...but...I'll get there...

There is a manual for seq66 at: https://github.com/ahlstromcj/seq66/blo ... manual.pdf
Some of the features are the same of Seq24.

in mix, nobody can hear your screen

This is excactly the workflow I can use at the moment, perhaps not as creative as the maestro's of the field...but...I may just surprise them too :wink
