Ardour6 crashes

Post by funkmuscle »

hey, I'm on Arch and been using it forever. Was recording all day then as I went to do some touchups, Ardour started to crash as I hit record.

Perhaps post on the Ardour forum for a more expert response.

Does it happen with a new project or just the one you've been using all day?

Actually I was thinking of doing that meaning trying another project but I completely forgot that because it was late last night when I sent that message here. I just tried it on another project that's only two tracks and I'm not having any issues.
I've also been recording on that project for the majority of the day and I was also working on one even bigger with no issues so I'm beginning to think as you said trying another project which I did and it's working fine, I think that something got corrupted with this project so I'm just going to try to set it up from scratch again.
Thanks :D

Yeah man but I thought this is a Linux specific thing but my friends on Windows and Macs experience this with Pro-Tools and Reaper and others. It made me feel better.

If you can have it open long enough and do a 'save as' you might be able to recover it.

I just exported all of the stems and import them into a new session and everything is perfect but yes thanks for that because that's how I recovered the last time that happened and I completely forgot about that using the save as .
The question is what the heck causes that?

I don't know, I think it's an ardour specific thing. I know we both had lots of crashes like this but I've not had any problems since switching to reaper and vcv rack. But yeah I guess it can happen on any system with such complex software and hugely varying use cases.

I am beginning to wonder if the latest Mixbus32C is the issue....
I just remembered, this started after I did the latest upgrade and now Mixbus32C is crashing.. It now has vst3 support...
I use Reaper, Ardour and Muse to record and Misbus to mix.

I'm beginning to think that this is an issue with the Sonarworks VST.
Mixbus32C and Ardour crashes when using Sonarworks. I am going to create another topic and ask if anyone else is experiencing issues with it.
