Try this command in a terminal:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install calf-plugins
That should include the Fluidsynth wrapper and all of the other Calf goodness.

If Calf is already installed, then maybe it is installed to a nonstandard directory or something

"calf-plugins" or "calf-utils"? Should be plugins.

Another place to check is Synaptic package manager, which you should find in your system menu somewhere. Search for "calf" and tell us what you find.

Hello,

I have some news.

I finally tried installing the plugins, not the utils, and it did nto fail.

But it turns out, it is already installed, the newest version. 0.90.3

But, it mad ea comment I have never sene before:

It is set to calf manually installed.

What might this mean?

The output sowed the the installed calf 0.90.3, as well as a few other unrelated files.

Thanks for any feedback.

Hello again everyone.

just want to follow up on the results I posted earlier this week.

Calf is already installed. But, this does not help me since I still can not select it from with the software.

Thansk for any feedback/.

It if helps, I remind you all that I just installed Ubuntu Studio, which seems to have a lot of the common software installed.

Thanks

Try running

calfjackhost

from the command line. Does it show CALF?

Hello,

Thanks for the feedback.

When I run calfjackhost, the command line displays about 20 lines of comments and CALF JACK HOST opens up in a new window.

I can then open files or add a plug in.

Thanks

Hello,

I wish that my ubuntu studio installed everything correctly. I would not be here asking my quetsions:(

JACK and the CALF plug in seemingly install fine. But, when looking to add it in ardour, it is not there.

My midi recording days have still yet to start. I have to fix my computer to just get the tools to work right.

Hopefully soon...

So there is no Calf in your Ardour Plugin Manager?

MuseScore worked right away, once i learned how to connect the keyboard(adding it from within the software).
But. until I take a break, or stop for a rest, all notes played all stay on the same count in the measure. Meaning, I can play a string of notes, and the all appear on count 1 in the measure. I pause, then the notes all appear on count 2 in the measure.
Does this software just take 1 note/chord at a time, an done in the basic note length(quarter, half, etc...) according to the time signature of the score? Or, should I just be able t play, and the notes appear inthe rigth way on the sheet of music?
As for recording midi in the different software(muse, qtractor, rosegarden, LMMS, ardour... I would create a track, but when recording, only Rosegarden actually recorded something. Rosegarden worked "out of the box", as goes the expression. I am sure that I am missing something with the others:)
Then there was recording audio. I tried just to mess around. How does one get the audio sound into the computer? ThUSB cable is likely not the right one. I need to take the audio out from my keyboard and use audio in (like a microphone jack?) on the computer?
