capturing/ recording the sound from guitarix with Audacity

I have guitarix (v 0.36.1) and QjackCtl: 0.4.5 installed on my computer and now I am trying to record the output from guitarix with Audacity (v 2.4.1).

I do get some sound and can record with Audacity, the thing is that it somehow does not pick up the effects from guitarix. My connections on Jack look like following:

But when I open Audacity the option gx_head_amp is not available on the input (microphone) devices, only the default option is available:

Of note, my microphone is not recognised by my system (Ubuntu 18.04), though I don't think this is related

In Audacity I have already clicked on 'Transpot/Rescan Audio Devices' though I cannot get 'gx_head_amp' to be selected for input. Does anyone have a solution for that? I also do not quite understand what all those Jack connections are, just copied from another thread on the web and was happy that I got it working (Jack + guitarix)

Audacity is a pain in the bum for not having it's ports persistent. I use the qjackctl patchbay rules with wildcards to auto connect stuff to audacity like that.

On my setup I take the output of gx_head_fx and all is fine.

Oh, of course, you need to go into preferences and tell Audacity to use Jack in the devices instead of ALSA.
